Questions about our DNA tests
Here are some frequently asked questions about our DNA metabolism tests.
HOW LONG DOES A DNA TEST TAKE?
The test is very easy to perform and can be done at home.
You can collect the saliva sample in 1-2 minutes. Afterwards, you simply send the sample back to our laboratory for analysis.
Our laboratory needs approximately 20 to 25 working days after receiving your saliva sample to process your results and create your personal DNA analysis.
The total time required from purchase to delivery of your DNA analysis depends on the time the shipping system needs to deliver the kit and return the test to our laboratory for analysis.
WHO IS THE DNA TEST SUITABLE FOR?
Basically, our DNA tests are suitable for anyone who wants to learn more about their genetic predisposition, be it the nutrition-conscious person, the professional athlete or the beauty queen.
However, we particularly recommend our DNA tests to people
- who have problems with their metabolism
- who find it difficult to lose weight
- who want to improve their health
- who want to learn more about their genetics
- who want to improve their quality of life
HOW DO I TAKE THE DNA TEST?
Once you have received your test kit, you should refrain from eating, drinking or smoking for at least 30 minutes before taking a saliva sample.
Your test kit contains a saliva container (in a protective bag), a barcode (consisting of numbers), a security code (consisting of numbers and letters), instructions and a return envelope.
To take your saliva sample, simply remove the container from the bag and fill it with your saliva up to the indicated line.
After taking your saliva sample, you enter your data along with the barcode and security code into your self-created customer account ( https://letsgo.mybodydna.de/ ).
Now all you have to do is send your saliva sample back to our lab for analysis. Collect saliva, register, send – it's that easy!
WHAT EXACTLY IS ANALYZED IN MY DNA?
We specifically analyze the most important SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms). SNPs are individual locations in the DNA sequence where a nucleotide – the fundamental building block of DNA – differs. A nucleotide consists of a sugar-phosphate backbone structure and one of four bases: adenine (A), cytosine (C), guanine (G), or thymine (T).
These small differences in the DNA sequence can affect how your body processes nutrients and reacts to environmental factors. By examining these inherited DNA segments, we determine your unique metabolic type.
WHAT WILL I RECEIVE AFTER COMPLETING THE TEST?
You will receive a notification that your analysis is complete after approximately 20-25 business days. Your analysis report will then be available for download as a PDF file in your personal customer portal.
If you wish, you can also order the completed analysis report as a booklet (book).
ARE THE DNA TESTS SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN?
Extensive research by numerous experts and recognized studies suggests that your DNA plays an important role in how your body reacts to food, exercise, vitamins, medications, and much more.
Our mybody® DNA tests are not a cure for your health and well-being. However, they offer you everything you need to understand your genetic predisposition and achieve your physical goals.
On our science page you can learn more about how it works and see the scientific references that we use as the basis for our innovative approach to personalized nutrition.
WHAT HAPPENS TO MY DNA AFTER THE TEST? IS MY DATA SECURE?
Data privacy and security are top priorities at mybody®. Your DNA and your data belong exclusively to you. For our analyses, only the genes necessary to obtain the information for your DNA evaluation are examined. All data, including your DNA evaluation and personal information, is stored on highly secure, encrypted servers and is not shared with third parties.
After the analysis is complete, your saliva sample will be safely and reliably destroyed.

HOW RELIABLE IS THE GUT FLORA TEST?
To guarantee the highest quality and safety, our laboratory is certified according to ISO 9001 (quality management systems) and ISO 13485 (medical devices) . It is the first laboratory in the field of microbiome research to hold both ISO certifications and undergoes annual audits by a renowned external institution.
In the field of intestinal testing, there are numerous methods available, ranging from simple rapid tests to advanced technologies. The choice of testing method significantly influences the accuracy and informational value of the results. Our laboratory utilizes state-of-the-art DNA sequencing technologies to detect all bacteria in a stool sample and simultaneously identify over 1,500 different bacterial species.
Our data-driven algorithms use scientific findings to identify connections between gut bacteria and various health aspects.

Questions about our home self-tests
Here are some frequently asked questions about our home self-tests.
CAN I TAKE THE TEST WITHOUT MEDICAL SUPERVISION?
Yes, the test is designed so that anyone can perform it at home. It only requires a small prick of the finger.
HOW DOES THE TEST WORK?
The home tests are easy to perform and require only a small finger prick. The test includes easy-to-understand, step-by-step instructions that can be followed even without medical experience.
The result is available within 10 minutes and, depending on the HOMETEST, shows the level in the blood.
A colored line on the test cassette confirms correct execution and sufficient sample quantity.
HOW ACCURATE IS THE RESULT?
The tests have an accuracy of 94.4%, as confirmed by clinical studies. This ensures that you receive precise information about your status.
CAN HOME TESTS PROVIDE FALSE RESULTS?
Inaccurate or distorted results from home tests can occur if the test is not performed correctly. Possible causes include:
- The test cassette got wet.
- The amount of blood was insufficient.
- Less than two or more than three drops of the buffer solution were used.
- The result was read more than 10 minutes after the start of the test (after 20 minutes the result is invalid).
WHAT DOES A LOW RESULT IN HOME TESTS MEAN?
A low result in the home tests indicates that the level in your blood is too low. In this case, you should consult a doctor for further examinations and to discuss the next steps.
WHAT DOES THE LINE BELOW THE C-LINE MEAN?
If a line appears below the C-line (control line) during the self-test, this means that the test is working correctly.
